From the President - March 2001
The year began very successfully with a Morning Coffee for Year 7 parents. The following week the Year 7 and New Parents' Chapel Service and Morning Tea in the Boykett Room was well attended with approximately 150 parents present for this special morning. The Year 7 and New Parents Family BBQ was a tremendous success with over 450 Scotch Family members in attendance. It was most enjoyable. The Pipes and Drums Auxiliary held their Welcome BBQ on a balmy Friday evening. The Cadet Auxiliary held their Information Night recently and the school has been holding the Year Level Information Evenings. Our congratulations and appreciation must go to the hard-working group of Old Boys, staff and parents who contributed to the Torch Relay and Heritage Walk. The day was a marvellous way to pay tribute to the 150th Anniversary of the School. The Back to School Assembly where the students received their commemorative ties was impressive. I am sure that in years to come the boys will appreciate the significance of the occasion. Towards the end of last year the association received information regarding 'Safe Parties' from the Strategic Services Division Nunawading Police Station. This important communication is included in this newsletter for Scotch Families to consider in conjunction with the Successful Teenage Gatherings brochure. As March is here, I look forward to cooler evenings, year level cocktail parties, the Dinner On The Main and meeting more members of the Scotch Family.
