From the President - September 2003

The Foundation Day Concert is this week

Torch At the first Foundation Day Concert in 1911 commemorating the Diamond Jubilee of the school, the boys only sang five songs, including the College Song and the College Anthem which are still sung today. Forty Years On and the Boating Song were introduced a few years later. These songs have become a tradition which the Year 12 boys sing at the concert.

The Director of Music, John Ferguson and the Music School Staff put in enormous work to produce an outstanding concert each year.

This term at Scotch continues to be action packed.

Suzette Boyd and her staff must be congratulated on their outstanding success with The Literature Festival. The functions were all well attended and Suzette's enthusiasm was infectious.

Junior and Senior School combine for Family Day on Saturday October 11. This is a special day in the school year and provides an opportunity for parents and boys to enjoy the many activities and exhibitions on display as well as watch athletics.

The Scotch Association, supported by the various Auxiliaries provides refreshments and goods to purchase throughout the day.

Support for these groups is appreciated and any assistance will be gratefully accepted. Please complete the reply slips at the back of this newsletter if you are able to assist.

September holidays are almost upon us; have a safe, restful and happy break. I look forward to catching up with parents on Family Day.

Sandra Dick
President Scotch Family Association
