The Foundation's Capital Campaign for the James Forbes Academy project continues to gain support from members of the Scotch Family.
Since the report in the December issue of Great Scot a further $600,000 has been received in gift pledges and another $100,000 has been promised but not yet confirmed.
Highlights since the last report are members of the Class of '75 raise funds to name a teaching room after their friend and classmate the late Dr Rob Wardrop; George Logie-Smith to be honoured by an endowment to establish the George Logie-Smith Directorship of the Academy; a significant number of past Captains of Music accept naming opportunities for chairs in the Music Auditorium; the great Australian actor Bud Tingwell makes a gift to honour his friend and colleague, the late John Ewart (Class of '50); the late Roy Shepherd M.B.E. reader in Music, Univ. of Melbourne, staff member of the College of the Arts and Scotch College music teacher to have a music room named in his honour; gift pledges now exceed $5.2 million; naming of seats in the drama theatre and music auditorium becoming popular; special window in Mackie Hall incorporated in design of Academy.
