In Scotch's 150th year, and after two years of extraordinary effort and unprecedented response, it is most heartening to see the new Music School (Stage 1 of the James Forbes Academy) rising out of the ground. We are hopeful that it will be officially opened early in 2002, and that construction of the auditoriums will begin soon after.
Although the campaign was formally closed on 23 March - almost exactly two years since it was launched - interested donors are still coming forward, and there is still time to become associated permanently with this most exciting development, either by contributing to the Logie-Smith Endowment (for people and programmes) or by donating a seat in the Music Auditorium or Geoffrey McComas Theatre. Your pledge of $400 per year for five years would be fully tax-deductible.
A full report on the Campaign will appear in the next edition of Great Scot

Scotch College is a registered recipient of grants from the New York based
British Schools and Universities Foundation.
The Foundation exists to assist British and Commonwealth schools and universities raise funds from their US based alumni and other supporters. The President, Scott Bushey, who met last year with Peter Crook, highlighted the opportunity for members of the Scotch Family to gain tax deductibility for gifts to Scotch College.
In essence, a gift is made to the British Schools and Universities Foundation with a request that a grant be made to Scotch College, Melbourne, Australia. The Foundation forwards a receipt to the donor who claims the gift as a charitable deduction. The BSUF, at an appropriate time, makes the grant to Scotch.
