Geoffrey Chu (Year 12) has become the first student ever to win six Australian Mathematics Competitions for the Westpac Awards medals. He has done so at each of six attempts from Year 7 to Year 12 respectively.
In so doing Geoffrey has received three perfect scores, and with them BH Neumann Certificates, and has only failed to answer correctly seven of the one hundred and eighty problems he has attempted.
Geoffrey also has a distinguished record at the International Mathematical Olympiad, having the highest haul for an Australian of one Gold and two Silver Medals. The Gold achieved as a Year 11 student in Romania in 1999, was in fact only one point short of the highest score in the world.
