Stage Two underway

Following the decision of the School Council, after a long and highly competitive tendering process, to award the contract of Stage Two of the James Forbes Academy to ADCO, work has proceeded with amazing speed.

Already the old Mackie Hall has been demolished and there is little sign now of the weathered old brick - nor of the 'temporary' classrooms on the Hill. Trees and shrubs have also made way for the clearing of the site, ready for the serious excavation to begin.

As magnificent as the School of Music already is, when Stage Two is completed, and the Schools of Drama and Communication are added by the end of 2004, Scotch will possess the finest performing arts complex of any school in Australia.

We will watch with interest as the excavation and building processes take place over the next eighteen months, and bring readers a regular pictorial update.
