General Peter Cosgrove |
The OSCA Annual Dinner is no doubt the most popular and successful event of its kind in Australia and with General Peter Cosgrove, AC MC, as the Guest Speaker for 2004, the tradition is set to continue.
The 2004 dinner is on Friday 28 May and will again be held at Melbourne Park.
General Cosgrove, appointed Chief of the Defence Force in 2002, was born into a military family in Sydney in 1947 and has followed a military career since graduating at Duntroon in 1968. Married with three sons, he is a passionate rugby supporter, owns a set of golf clubs!!, and enjoys an occasional game
of cricket.
General Cosgrove has been associated with Scotch College over several years, having inspected the School cadet unit at the 2000 cadet tattoo. General Cosgrove also gave freely of his time to play an important part in the School's Vietnam Reflection Day ceremony last year. It is with great pleasure that we welcome General Cosgrove to our 2004 Annual Dinner.
The Toast to The Guests will be performed by Colonel Paul Symon, AM. Paul was born in 1960 and attended Scotch College before attending Duntroon in 1979. Paul is the son of Old Scotch legend Mr Bruce Symon.
This year's dinner has been assembled after considerable review and analysis of past years' events. The traditions will be enhanced this year to ensure that the Old Scotch Annual Dinner remains the pre-eminent old school dinner throughout Australia. Some changes have been made and these will be reviewed after the dinner. The dinner is still 'black tie' but it will also be acceptable to wear a dark lounge suit with an Old Boys tie.
The theming of Melbourne Park to ensure this event is clearly an 'Old Scotch' tradition will continue, and the enhancements last year will be improved again this year. Considerable effort is being placed on the quality of the food and improving the quality of the wine.
Early indications suggest that an attendance in the order of 700 ñ 750 is likely this year, so it is imperative that you book early.
The ticket price has remained unchanged at $95 for OSCA Life Members and $99 for non Life Members.
A $20 discount is available to students.
