"It was earlier than usual in the School year but it certainly set the scene for the great match the next day."That's how 1858 Club President Mal Smith summed up the club's successful seventh annual CordnerEggleston Breakfast in May.
Four hundred guests sat down to breakfast at the Hotel Sofitel with the function mixing some now standard features with a delightful new slant.

As usual MC Graham "Smokey" Dawson was in amazing form for so early in the day and the club had as its special guest Andrew Demetriou, the CEO of the AFL, who reflected on the great traditions of the game and how the ScotchMelbourne Grammar fixture must always be honoured as a seminal part of the game's history.
And in a new segment guests were treated to a delightful performance by the Cardinals, the School's Barber Shop group, with their harmonious renditions of Row, row, row and Life Could Be a Dream.
