Thank you everyone for your Principal generous good wishes and kind thoughts at the Annual General meeting of the Scotch Parents’ Association. Thank you all for your support and enthusiasm that has made this year what it has been. We all have many memories to cherish.

As we now see our boys finishing their exams and anticipating summer, a new year looms with a changing of the guard at Scotch. I wish our retiring Principal, Dr Gordon Donaldson, AM and his wonderful wife, Joyce, a long healthy and happy retirement that has been so well earned.

My very best wishes also to the new Principal, the staff, students and all members of the Scotch Parents’ Association and Auxiliaries for the year ahead.

At our Annual General Meeting the new executive was announced.

I am pleased to announce that Gary Goldsmith has graciously accepted our invitation to join the team as Junior Vice-President. Together with Peter Dawson, President, Barb Hurley, Senior Vice-President, they will be a great team for 2008.

The Valedictory Dinner was again a very pleasant and memorable occasion for parents and boys.

Hearing Rt Rev Bradbeer’s Ode to the Haggis was truly memorable, as it was to eat it. The Cardinals and Show Band were top class entertainment.

Mark Mitchell’s two performances on the evening were brilliant and I can’t help but think that while his character, ‘Con the fruiterer’, was over-looked as a candidate for Principal, the thoughts about increasing fruit and vegetables in the diet were commendable.

I hope that your Festive Season and holidays are everything that you wish for. Thank you all again and God bless.
