A full calendar of events on the sporting field, in the James Forbes Academy and to celebrate milestones within the Scotch Community has ensured that Scotch families have not hibernated in the Winter Term.
Congratulations to the Year 11 and 12 students from Scotch and PLC who performed to a full house over three nights in an outstanding performance of West Side Story. It was wonderful to see their endeavours rewarded by the support of the School community. As the Torch goes to print, Year 7 and 8 students are looking forward to the production of Peter Pan.
In the Ian Roach auditorium another concert season sees the schools' musicians hone their skills ahead of Foundation Day Concert.
Atarecent function to celebrate 50 years of the Scotch Military Band, past and present band members were presented with a celebration medallion. Six members of the inaugural band were present to mark this special occasion.
Adam Elliot entertained those who attended the Literature Festival Dinner as he shared with us the highs and lows of his journey to becoming one of Australia's most successful and oscar winning film maker.
Many Year 12 boys have competed for the School for the final time at the conclusion of the winter sport season. Thanks to all those parents who have supported the boys, served in the canteen or at barbecues and run the boundary line over the course of the season. All SPA auxiliaries are supported by numerous volunteers who work quietly behind the scenes to support the boys and the contribution of each and everyone is greatly valued.
Thanks to Hugh French for his insight into the range of opportunities available to the boys on the Hill.
During the year there are several exeat weekends for the boarders.
A number of the Indigenous students in the Boarding School live in the Northern Territory and far north Queensland and as such, it is impractical for them to return home for a short exeat weekend. Any families who would be willing to host these boys in their home for a long weekend, please email Dr Rob Smith rob.smith@scotch.vic.edu.au who will contact you should the need arise.
