Will Dumaresq and his winning model car |
A Scotch Year 12 student from 2005, Will Dumaresq, has won a major prize for the best model car design created by a secondary student in Victoria.
Will, who completed Year 12 visual communication and design last year, won the award in the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Target 2020’ design competition. The brief was to ‘make, design or describe the car of 2020’.
Will received a cheque for $3,000 (for himself) and another $3,000 for the Scotch art department. The Victorian Government Minister for Manufacturing and Export, the Hon. Andre Haermeyer, presented Will with his prize and spoke about the value of design education for the future of industry in Victoria and Australia. Will’s work was exhibited at the 2006 Melbourne Motor Show.
