The School’s Annual Giving program has a simple but important aim – to raise funds for immediate need priorities around the School.
Last year the program raised more than $7000 for new seating around the Junior School Oval – a project which had required immediate attention. Funds raised in this year’s program will be directed to supplying new Junior School playground equipment.
In 2005 Senior School parents raised over $10,000 for new blinds for the Boykett Room in the Cardinal Pavilion. These are now in place, and are providing much needed respite from the sun’s heat and glare.
In 2006, Senior School parents are being asked to support the installation of new shade sails for the area directly outside the Senior School tuckshop. This will provide the boys with much-needed relief from the sun during the warmer months.
In 2005, Old Boys were asked to support the archives fund and responded magnificently, with more than $50,000 raised. These funds have already been used to convert No 3 Morrison Street into an archives area, and to provide new shelving in both buildings (No 2 and No 3 Morrison Street). Building is about to commence on a new storage and sorting area at the rear of No 2 Morrison Street.
Although the archives will again feature in the Old Boys’ Annual Giving appeal for 2006, the Littlejohn Memorial Chapel turns 60 this year and requires immediate attention. Many cracks have appeared on the front walls and throughout the main steps. Scotch Family members are encouraged to support the drive to return the chapel to its former glory.
The Annual Giving program raised in excess of $145,000 in 2005, and we know that with the support of the entire Scotch Family we can do even better in 2006! An Old Boys’ Annual Giving form is included with this edition of Great Scot.
