Raising the bar, again, celebrating outstanding results.
Words: Keiron Jones, Head of Year 12
At the Torch Ceremony last October, the Class of 2006 took their warm-hearted and exuberant leave of Scotch College. Giving standing ovations to a number of teachers who were also departing and singing the School songs with spirit and gusto, no one could doubt their legacy of goodwill, fellowship, fondness for their teachers and rock-solid leadership. So it was particularly satisfying that their final year as memorable senior students was also capped by outstanding VCE results.
Through sheer hard work and persistent dedication, the Class of 2006 has raised the bar for achievement even higher. We congratulate David Yang and Tian Tu who achieved an ENTER (Equivalent National Tertiary Entrance Rank) of 99.95, the highest possible score, placing them in the top 0.05% in the state. In all:
Just as pleasing is the fact that so many of our boys with more modest ENTERs worked equally hard and achieved their very best results. They too have found a well-deserved place in courses of their choice and are now happily underway with their studies. Having spoken to dozens of students since the results and university offers became known, I know there is a huge sense of ‘a job well done’ and excitement about what the future holds for them.
A number of students, in both the Class of 2006 and in Year 11 last year, gained a ‘perfect score’ of 50 for particular studies. A score of 50 is a percentile rank and places students in the top 0.05% of the state for that study.
The students in the Class of 2006 who achieved a study score of 50 are featured in the box on the right.
Year 11 boys who achieved a study score of 50 were:
99% of Scotch College students received a tertiary offer.
The following statistics take into account the fact that some students will have received more than one tertiary offer:
