Greg Baker (Director of Rowing) & Drew Ginn
Two Old Scotch Collegians have been selected to represent Australia at the forthcoming World Rowing Championships.
Reigning world champion Drew Ginn (’92) was selected together with Duncan Free in the Men’s Coxless Pair. Drew and Duncan won this event at last year’s World Championships and Drew also won a gold medal in this event at the Athens Olympics with James Tomkins, his former coach at Scotch.
Cameron McKenzie McHarg (’98) joins four other Victorians, including James Tomkins, in the Men’s Eight. Cameron was a member of last year’s eight that finished in 4th place at the World Championships.
Both crews will compete at two World Cup events in Europe and then at the World Rowing Championships in Munich starting on 26 August. Good results in these events will see the crews qualify for the 2008 Beijing Olympics as Australia aims to be the number one rowing nation in the world.
