A Wealth of Exciting Venturer Activities

Words: Tim Martin – Venturer Unit Chairman

Soon after Hoadley Hide, the unit ran a Venturing skills night, where some of the older members taught younger members essential hiking skills. Next on the agenda was an iron chef night, where the Venturers teamed up to create a surprisingly edible meal of vol-au-vents, spaghetti and pancakes. Next the Venturers triumphed over the Old Scotch Rover Crew 14-7 in a game of thunder hockey.

Just before the exams we visited Temple Beth Israel, a Jewish synagogue, where we attended a service which helped us understand the Jewish faith a bit more. Finishing the term was an all-nighter movie night; great fun for those who managed to stay awake for the whole night! During the term, we also enjoyed a multiple activity night.

In 2008 we are planning an overseas trip – maybe to New Zealand – and we are fundraising through a trivia night, a midnight-to-dawn dark-zone night, a movie night and selling sausages at Bunnings and Safeway. Activities in term three have included a skiing trip in August, a district-wide capture-the-flag night, and attending Camberwell Showtime.0418 532 505. GS
