Learning a language can be just as much fun as a circus! That was the clear message from an exciting winter performance of magical circus-style events in the Junior School on Friday 13 June.
Weeks before the event a unique cultural exchange was established with the most successful circus in Europe, Circus Krone, which claims to have the largest circus tent in the world. Information from Circus Krone proved vital in the establishment of our own souvenir programs and the design and order of the actual show.
Our circus director Jason Chan (Year 6 LOTE captain) confidently welcomed everyone to the show and introduced our own special Junior School circus band, the combined dancers from MLC and Scotch, the ‘strongest man in the world’, some very funny clowns and the fiercest lions anyone had ever seen. Anthony De Masi with his wonderful illusions was a real highlight of the show.
There was a buzz in the air as students enjoyed all that the circus had to offer, including fairy floss and a special ‘Circus Scotch’ lunch pack.
Students not only had a rich language and cultural experience throughout the show, but they learned skills, such as performing magic, juggling, creating balloon sculptures and training cute performing circus dogs. Rolling up to learn a language at Scotch is easy and fun! GS
