Cam Rees plunges to new heights

Words: Dr John Jackowski

Cameron Rees (Year 12) starred in the Pacific School Games, held in Canberra last December, winning gold in the 10 metre platform diving event, and bronze medals in the three metre springboard and three metre synchronised springboard events.

Earlier in 2008, Cam won a bronze medal in the under 19 three metre springboard event in the Australian junior elite diving championships, and came fourth in the one metre springboard event.

Cam was also a member of the Victorian junior diving team which was named as the Victorian junior team of the year in the 2008 Victorian Sport Awards. GS

Double success in Hayes household

Words: Ms Keiron Jones

Mr Chris Hayes has been a member of staff at Scotch for 30 years, so it’s hardly surprising that two of his sons, Andrew (in Year 7) and Mitch (Year 11) are good sportsmen.

Andrew and Mitch were selected to represent Victoria in the recent under-age Australian baseball championships. Andrew was in the under 14 team which finished second and Mitch was in the under 16 team which won the gold medal in a very close game (4 to 3) against New South Wales.

Mitch has now been offered a baseball scholarship with the Victorian Institute of Sport. Congratulations to both boys and their proud father. GS
