Visual Arts in the Junior School

WORDS: MS PRISCILLA WILLIAMS – JUNIOR SCHOOL ART TEACHER • Photography: Ms Jocelyn Pride

The Visual Art program begins in Prep and all boys attend classes for 70 minutes per cycle. Two-dimensional and three-dimensional media are explored during sessions and a range of media is incorporated into activities. Art Club is an extra class that runs during lunchtimes, once per cycle, and a number of students create individual projects. This year, students have created many masterpieces including multimedia boats, Margaret Preston−inspired paintings, cartoons, Eric Carle−inspired collages, recycled bottle top wall hangings, coil pots, and an illustration for the Zingora picture book, which will be published later in the year. Many pieces are displayed around the school, published in Jetsetter magazine and exhibited in gallery spaces. GS
