Students rally behind Chitulika

The Chitulika Appeal is starting to gather pace with the students of Scotch College.

To finish off Term 2 with a bang, the Prefects went into battle against the staff, in a ‘friendly’ game of soccer. The match attracted hundreds of interested onlooking Scotch students, who were all supporting their peers against the mighty staff team. The occasion mixed competition, fun and charity in order to raise awareness of this most worthy cause. However, the students all too eagerly returned to their classrooms as the staff successfully conquered the Prefects.

Throughout Term 3, activities were planned for specific year levels, to get them all working together and involved. Chitulika arm-bands are also being sold to raise awareness as well as money for the charity, and have proven a great success.

Leadership for this great cause has come mostly from the students. They have done an extremely successful job at organising and conducting specific tasks and duties to make this fundraising task efficient and beneficial, to not only to the people of Chitulika, but also in raising awareness with the families and students of Scotch.

The Class of 2011 committee has also been involved in the fundraising process for Chitulika, and is planning to hold a barbecue as well as a casual clothes day. Mr Mark Williams, Director of Social Services, has been very helpful, working in the background, delegating and educating students about this worthy cause.

I hope this is only the beginning of collective fundraising and awareness raising activities at Scotch in regard to Chitulika. Not only is this a worthy cause but it also paves the way towards greater fundraising projects in the future. GS
