Recently at Trinity Grammar, a round-robin debating competition took place between four schools, Trinity, Ruyton, Fintona, and Scotch.
It was designed for Year 8 students, as an introduction to debating. Scotch had three teams competing, James Hillis, Michael Roy and James Muldoon, Sam Elder, Edward Tudor and Julian Cole, and Nick Pejnovic, John Newnham and Tim Lee.
Our first team debated Ruyton, that 'The ABC should become a commercial station', and we won.
In our second debate, against Trinity, the topic was 'Big business is ruining sport', where we were for the negative. We all performed well, but unfortunately lost. The third and final debate was 'Society is too concerned with money', against Fintona, but in a very close contest we lost by a whisker. We all had a great day, with much thanks to Trinity.
