At the ADAPE Sydney 2000 Conference held in May the Director of Development, Peter Crook, was admitted as an inaugural Fellow of ADAPE.
ADAPE is The Association of Development and Alumni Professionals in Education Inc. It was started in the late '80s by Peter and a small group of colleagues, in the newly emerging area of fundraising and alumni relations in secondary and tertiary institutions, as a body to encourage sharing of ideas and to help to newcomers in the field.
At the special presentation ceremony at the Conference Peter, a founding member of ADAPE, was honoured by being the first member to be admitted and then invited to present a certificate to each of the other awardees.
The out-going national President of ADAPE, Ann Badger, from Melbourne Grammar School, said that being made a Fellow is a great honour. It recognises those who have contributed significantly to development in Australia through expertise, involvement and volunteer assistance and who have been active participants of ADAPE for at least seven years.
In 1994 Peter was the inaugural winner of ADAPE's most prestigious honour, the Trevor Wigney Award, for his outstanding contribution to alumni and development activities not only at Scotch but in Australasia.
