As can be seen, we are having difficulty winning games in the Reserves and U19s. With up to half of last year's senior list missing, the Reserves are in a team building phase with the majority of the team coming from last years team.
The team has not only lost some of its better players to the seniors and reserves, but has also suffered from injuries to key players as well. All this, coupled with the move to a higher standard of football in Section 1, has taken its toll on the scoreboard.
This year the Club made a conscious decision to play as many players as possible each Saturday and to give the better players an opportunity to be tested at the senior level. This has resulted in four players playing senior or reserves football and up to ten players being selected to play with the 3rd eighteen. To date up to thirty-five have played football each Saturday. Tom Collie and Cameron Joyce have had games with the Seniors and James Ross and Marc Lipshut have played with the Reserves.
The senior team is in the middle of the ladder, having lost to traditional rivals Old Melburnians and Old Xaverians. Recent victories against Marcellin and De la Salle have consolidated their position.
Players performing well have been Andrew Crow, Campbell Heath, Adam Nettleton, Matt O'Brien, Josh Kitchen and James Paterson.
Like all sporting clubs, we are always in need of helpers, particularly on Saturday. So, if you are an ex-player or current parent we would be delighted if you could assist. We currently operate a roster system for the scoreboard and time-keeping, so people are only required a few times during the season.
Please come along and support an Old Scotch team during the football season.
