JFA Update

Stage two of the James Forbes Academy, Schools of Music, Drama and Communications is progressing well. This new facility will combine the School of Music and School of Drama and Communications within one centre, offering a 500-seat Music Auditorium and 500-seat Drama Theatre, workshops for set construction, offices and classrooms for School of Drama and Communications, dressing rooms and storage areas, spacious foyers and terraces, box office and catering facilities.

The project is on schedule and the target completion date for builders' works is September 2004, then the building will be handed over to the Scotch College Project team to complete the remaining specialist fit out items such as theatre seating, lighting and sound systems, teaching spaces, kitchen and catering facilities.

Music Auditorium Update

• Auditorium walls and roof framing erected.
• Basement amenities area excavated.
• Stage area slab reinforcement placed.

School of Drama and Communications Update

• Precast walls and shafts erected.
• Slabs to levels 0 & 1 poured.
• Internal block work wall being erected.

Drama Theatre Update

• Basement dressing rooms and storage areas.
• Fly tower and stage area erected.
• Orchestra pit and theatre slab poured.
• Theatre walls and roof framing erected.
