Ocean Mosaic

An exciting project for Year 4 boys has unfolded in the Junior School. All Year 4 students have been part of the Ocean Mosaic Project where a mosaic wall was constructed outside of the Art Room using a range of coloured tiles, with the topic being 'Under The Sea'.

The project was coordinated by Ms Michelle Newman, a professional mosaic artist, who was the Artist in Residence 4 for Term 3. Ms Newman explained the history of mosaics and how to build a mosaic using paper and later, real tiles, that was constructed into shapes of fish, coral, sharks and octopuses, to name just a few underwater creatures.

This exciting project was inspired by the United Nations 'Year of the Ocean', and was funded by the Ken Field Memorial Trust.

In the Resource Centre the 'Year of the Ocean' was celebrated with a most attractive display. Sea poems, sketches, limericks and colourful tropical fish were created with great enthusiasm.
