Scotch College has commissioned a special Limited Edition print to record our magnificent 150 year history. It's an ideal way of bringing together the history, tradition and spirit of Scotch College.
The print includes rare material from the archives and other sources, providing a fascinating visual record of Scotch's development through the years. Much of this material will be seen for the first time. Photographs from the 150th celebration will also be included.
Each print will carry the original signatures of eminent old Scotch Collegians Sir Zelman Cowen, Sir Ninian Stephen, the Hon Jeff Kennett, the Hon John Cain, the Hon Jim Bacon. Headmasters Prof Emeritus Richard Selby Smith, Mr Philip Roff and Dr Gordon Donaldson are also signatories.
This becomes a very rare collection of original signatures and means our history is personally endorsed by these highly respected people who have made significant contributions to Australia as well as Scotch College.
The Scotch College crest will be embossed and feature as the main title. The skill and precision of this work will highlight the quality of the presentation.
The edition will be strictly controlled and there will be no re-prints once the production is complete.
To ensure the integrity of the edition every print will carry an individually numbered stamp. Every person lucky enough to purchase one will be registered and a Certificate of Authenticity issued to them.
The edition will be framed using solid timber and acid free materials.
The size of the prints is 550mm deep by 780mm wide, making it ideal for display in homes as well as offices.
The 500 prints will be available in mid-November.
Already requests have been received for certain print numbers. People can specify a number and if it is available it will be held for them, on a "first in" basis.
The print is designed by David Lancashire, one of Australia's most internationally renowned graphic designers.
The project is being conducted by Great Moments whose work is regarded as the finest anywhere in the world.
Because Scotch College is controlling the distribution of the edition it has been determined that the framed price will be $495 each plus GST.
Word has already got out about the edition and quite a number of reservations were received following the 150th celebrations' Torch Relay and Heritage Walk.
Orders are being accepted now.
Anyone wishing to reserve one of these prints should contact Leigh McGregor, Executive Director, Old Scotch Collegians' Association, Randall Building 1, Morrison Street, Hawthorn Vic. 3122 or complete the form on the separate brochure included with this issue of Great Scot.
