Wing Commander Steve Edwards congratulates Cadet Nick Denby. Captain John Buchanan was Senior Instructor of the course.
Following the successful Army course camp for Warrant Officers and Cadet Under Officers in July 2002, the Scotch College Cadet Unit was proud to host its courses camp for Junior Leaders and Senior Leaders at the Royal Australian Air Force Williams Base, Point Cook. This opportunity provided a unique experience for the 95 candidates, 20 instructors and 20 Officers of Cadets.
During their time at Point Cook the Cadets received the full suite of formal training in accordance with the Army's training management packages. The high quality of instruction and response on behalf of the candidates reflected the courses being held on an Australian Defence Force institution.
The cadets were housed in the Officer Training School precinct, fed in the Officer Mess and the Officers of Cadets were accommodated in the RAAF Officers Mess.
The final parades provided a fitting culmination to the cadet training year. Both the Junior Leaders and Senior Leaders graduation parades were held on the historic Point Cook parade ground. Both parades were reviewed by Wing Commander Steve Edwards, Base Commander RAAF Williams, and were well attended by parents and friends of the Scotch Community.
I would like to thank Wing Commander Edwards and his staff for their hospitality and providing the Scotch College Cadet Unit with this unique opportunity. Considering RAAF Point Cook is due to close in July 2003 the unit was honoured to have had this experience.
Staff Sergeant Stephen Dower commands one of the Junior Leaders course platoons at the graduation parade.
