Sax@ the zoo

sax at the zoo

It was not exactly the 'normal' backdrop for a musical performance, but nevertheless the Melbourne Zoo provided a unique and exciting experience for nine boys from Years 7 to 10 at the end of last year.

As members of the Sax@Scotch ensemble, the boys performed at the zoo's elephant enclosure for the breakfast launch of The Connecting Kids Company, a new name for the Peer Support Organisation of Victoria.

The ensemble was directed by Scotch Music teacher Peter Rickard, and assisted by fellow Music staff member Megan Philip.

The group all enjoyed a delicious early breakfast before serenading the assembled dignitaries with an appropriate rendition of Baby Elephants Walk and many other toe-tapping arrangements.

This was a wonderful way for the boys to conclude their year of music-making, and thanks are extended to Rhonda Briscoe for the invitation to play and for the hospitality extended to the group.
