Old Scotch Bowls

The new season started early in September with a three way game against our hosts Kew Heights and their other visitor MCC. A convincing win for Old Scotch by 16 shots making a great start. However in our next two games against Caulfield Grammarians and Glenferrie Hill we lost by 13 shots and 11 shots respectively.

Old Scotch Bowls We are very pleased to welcome new members this year Neil Roach, John Burrows and Neil Riches, who keep our members up around the 60 mark. However it is with much sadness we note the passing of our past Secretary and good companion - Herb Gamble, who we will miss greatly and we extend our condolences to his family.

Any Old Boy or Scotch Family member who is not already on our computer list, and who wishes to play with us, should contact Miller Goodwin - 9808 5907 or Manson Russel 9809 1054.

The 2000/2001 cricket season for Old Scotch Collegians Cricket Club is underway. We will be aiming to return to the finals this season, after missing them for the first time in five years, last season.

The Reds have made a good start by overcoming Old Caulfield in the opening round by 35 runs in an enjoyable game on the Meares Oval. Best players included James Parton (61) and Gary Bennett (3/22).

Unfortunately the younger Blues team were defeated by University, but with the return of some key players for round two, they are sure to improve on that performance.

The Club is pleased to announce that our traditional Christmas game between our two teams has been moved to February 18th, to coincide with the torch relay day. We will be playing on the lower oval during the afternoon and look forward to entertaining a few spectators, and contributing to the150th anniversary celebrations.

As always the Club would welcome anyone interested playing a competitive but enjoyable game of cricket. Training begins at 5.30pm every Thursday night in the Rugby Oval nets.
