The Koomerang Buller Lodge - in winter

The year commenced with bushfires burning within very close quarters to three of our lodges, namely Thredbo, Falls Creek and Mt Hotham. Fortunately our lodges suffered no damage.

The ski season this year started with a good covering of snow but diminished for our annual Club Championships in July. Bruce Long who flew all the way down from Sydney became overall club champion for the year. The annual Koomerang-Alkera challenge at Mt Buller was again won by Alkera Ski Club with the help of a former Olympic skier.

Guy Besley, our former racing coordinator, donated a prize for the racing weekend of a week's accommodation at Martinique Resort, Port Douglas, which Guy and his wife Jackie, are presently operating. Thanks should also go to David Alexander for his input in making the racing weekend so successful.

The Koomerang Buller Lodge - in summer

106 Scotch schoolboys have had the opportunity to ski with the school and stay at our lodges this year. Interschool racing was held at Mt Buller during August with some reasonable success. Watkin McLennan won the division 2 moguls, the division 3 GS team finished 2nd, the moguls team finished 4th. Nick Esser finished 4th in the snowboard slalom and went on to the nationals at Mt Hotham. Mt Buller was the venue for this years Scotch College Ski Club beginner weekend which gave 30 boys the opportunity to learn the basics of skiing, whilst those with more experience were able to take advantage of skiing at Falls Creek during the July holidays.

The season ended with an excellent cover of snow at all resorts, so much so that Mt Buller extended their season for a further 2 weeks. All resorts are now moving into summer mode with a number of different events and festivals held at all resorts. Details of these can be had by visiting their respective web sites.
