Interschool Lawn Bowls Competition

Tom Robertson

The Schools' Lawn Bowls competition has been in existence as a summer sport for 12 years, and is managed by Mr. Bob Middleton of the Royal Victorian Bowls Association.

This year there were thirty teams in the competition, coming from sixteen schools. Scotch had four teams. APS and AGS schools were Scotch, Xavier, St Kevins, Brighton, Haileybury, Caulfield, Ivanhoe and Camberwell Grammar. There were also four Government and two Catholic schools.

The competition is played in two divisions, each division having two sections. At the conclusion of the season, finals are held to determine the top four places in the two divisions.

This year, our Firsts finished in fifth place in the Division 1 competition of sixteen teams. Our Seconds finished in second place in the Division 2 competition of fourteen teams, while the Thirds and Fourths finished in tenth and twelfth place.
