During this very busy term we have focused on the theme for children's book week, "Book Feast" in the library, and have provided a feast of literary activities for the boys.
We have attended a book launch of Andy Griffiths' and Terry Denton's new book, "Just Disgusting", heard irish author Eoin Colfer of "Artemis Fowl" fame discuss his writing, while author Ian Bone entertained with excerpts from his books.
Zart Art provided exciting art activities for each grade, based on the short-listed picture books, in Book Week, while Tony Bones theatre group gave two wonderful performances also based on short-listed books.
In Book Week, Joan Van Loon, Raymond J. Bartholomeusz, and Jane Godwin visited Scotch for sessions with different year levels, while Year 5 listened to and spoke with author Emily Rodda at a book gig.
A group of Year 6 boys were at the Melbourne Writers' Festival Schools Programme to hear Andy Griffiths, John Larkin and Margaret Clark discuss humour in writing, while the Top Tales Book Fair was a great success.
We were also delighted when Chris Penhalluriack, Year 4, won a national competition based on Paul Jennings books, and when we won a Macquarienet competition using internet resources.
All in all, a very literary term!
