OSCA would like to welcome Rowan Crosbie-Goold ('84) back to Scotch. He has recently joined OSCA as the Alumni Network Manager, and his primary responsibility is in running and developing the OSCAnet project.
Many boys and parents will remember Rowan for his teaching in the Music Department between 1994 and early 2001, as well as for his achievements and concert performances as a musician. In recent years, Rowan has worked part time in the Biotechnology Industry in new medical imaging technologies (In Vivo Confocal Microscopy - ask him if you really want to know!), while balancing his interest in teaching. He left Scotch to go full time into this work, and then moved into Management Consulting with a well-established firm in the city.
OSCA has attracted Rowan back to Scotch in a new role, managing this exciting initiative that will provide great benefits to all of the Scotch Community.
Rowan is working closely with the OSCAnet team through the development and build phases of the website, due to go online in early October. From then on the OSCAnet team will gradually hand over completely and will be drawn upon as support only.
Rowan is assisted also by Mark O'Connor, who is the Content Coordinator for the website. Mark is responsible for the day-to-day running of the site, as well as for making a vital contribution to the ongoing technological development strategy.
T
ania Castles joined Scotch in 1999 as administrative assistant in the Development Office, working with Peter Crook and Margaret Long. She quickly established herself as an invaluable member of the team and played a key role during the sesquicentennial celebrations last year, especially with the Dinner on the Main.
Her extensive knowledge of the Foundation and its members allowed a smooth transition when Alan Watkinson was appointed to replace Peter Crook as Director of Development, and she has since been appointed as Operations Manager of the Foundation. Tania organises the major events in the Foundation calendar and takes a special delight in working with the members of the East Melbourne Glen Chapter, who are all a minimum of 75 years of age!
Tania's association with Scotch goes back for several years, as she used to regularly compete in athletics with Tony Briggs ('85). Tania also sprinted in 100m, 200m and relay events for Victoria. She still runs regularly with her two children, Jamie (14) and Samantha (10) and enjoys a social hit of golf with her husband David.
Her fastidious attention to detail, combined with her engaging and ebullient personality, is testament to her developing reputation as a friendly, resourceful and efficient Manager. Tania contributes substantially to the strategic direction and development of the operations of the Scotch Foundation. She still takes time, though, to relax over the Quizmaster at lunchtimes.
