The Scotch College Junior School recently celebrated with Ms Jocelyn Pride, as she was selected as one of only sixteen teachers from Victoria to be recognised with an excellence in teaching award from nearly three thousand nominations nationally.
Having taught at Scotch for the past eight years, Jocelyn’s award was for ‘Excellence and creative and innovative teaching’. As Year Six Coordinator, Jocelyn maintains a tight cohesive teaching unit, is responsive to parent demands, the needs of her students and the ideology of Scotch College, whilst targeting the best characteristics of each of her students.
Among the innovations she has introduced is a Robotics program across Years Five and Six which saw us entering four teams in last year’s Victorian RoboCup Championships and six teams this year. Taking one team to the Australian titles last year saw the boys finishing a commendable sixth place in their first national competition.
Jocelyn is now in consideration for one of a number of national awards which are due to be announced in October.
Scotch is indeed fortunate to attract staff of this calibre and I know the community joins me in congratulating Jocelyn and in wishing her well for the next stage of these prestigious awards.
