Mentoring ' a program that works

The Mentor Program has so far assisted 45 people towards achieving their career goals. Feedback has been outstanding. These Old Boys range from university students and first-time job seekers, to 35-45 year old career changers, to senior managers looking for new roles, etc.

2004 has begun quietly for the Mentor Program, so if you are seeking some career advice and guidance with your planning, why not apply online on OSCAnet?

There have been many applicants who have lost direction and have sought clarity in what they want to do in the future. Our expert career champions and mentors have helped most participants develop a clearer career path. Two have even changed jobs and tell us how much happier they are in their new roles.

'The Program really helped. Making the right decisions is imperative, particularly in IT contracting, and having someone in the industry you can talk to has helped me to make the right decisions.' Peter Lam ('99)

'It's the best two hours of career planning I've ever done! Everyone should do it.' Alastair McIntosh ('95)

Staff changes at OSCAnet

Mark O'Connor has left to take up a new challenging role with South-East Water in the LaTrobe Valley. His partner has secured a position with Monash University there. Wedding bells are also on the horizon! We wish him every success with this new venture and their life together.

We are delighted to have Ed Hooper (just graduated with the class of 2003!) join us to help with website development. Already, Ed has made an impact by refreshing material on the site, as well as including a new, developing image gallery, and further developing the 'What They're Doing Now' pages and the 'Business Directory', just to name a few.

At present, the image gallery mainly contains images from 2003, but it will expand to cover many other years, as photos come in. It will also contain images for Old Scotch Clubs, etc.

Head off those viruses

Want to know more about arming yourself against internet viruses?

We have developed a new page on OSCAnet which gives an overview on viruses in general, and some general hints. We have also set up a discussion in the 'discussions forum' for people to contribute, or ask questions. We expect that many will have questions, and the answers will come from the experienced IT professionals among you. We hope this provides some interest for you.
