Korean-born violinist JI WON KIM was the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performer of the Year 2009. A Masters graduate with high distinctions from Vienna Hochschule, Melbourne University and Sydney Conservatorium, she has participated in international music festivals in Europe, Australia, New York and Tokyo, achieving major awards at the International Brahms Competition in Austria, Lisbon SIC International Violin Competition, Slovenia Bled International Competition, and most recently, the 2011 SBS Matthew Krel Prize, adjudicated by Vladimir Ashkenazy. Described as ‘magical’, she has featured as a soloist with the Sydney, Adelaide and Queensland Symphony Orchestras, the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, Southern Cross Soloists, Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra, and Seoul Prime Orchestra. Her debut solo CD was released in 2011 on ABC Classics.
Vietnamese-born Melbourne pianist HOANG PHAM has recently completed his Masters at Manhattan School of Music. Dividing his time between New York and Melbourne, Hoang appears regularly in leading recital series in Australia and has performed with its major symphony orchestras. His international credential is evidenced by multiple recital appearances, adjudication and master classes, in England, USA and New Zealand. Hoang was a Prize Winner in the ‘Bosendorfer’, ‘Cleveland’, ‘Hilton Head’, and ‘Sydney International piano competitions. In 2010, he won the inaugural MRC Great Romantics Competition and is a past Lev Vlassenko Prize Winner.
