It gives me great pleasure to announce the 2012 ScotchArts season – the seventh series since the Flinders Quartet performed the first concert in 2006.

We have enjoyed some wonderful concerts during the first six seasons, and this year promises to be particularly enriching, as well as diverse. The Idea of North has already inspired the next generation of jazz vocalists, and will doubtless be familiar to all as this fresh and engaging ensemble is so frequently broadcast by the ABC.

From Germany, we are delighted to be able to present the Eldering Ensemble. These performers play with a rare commitment and passion, and it is little wonder that they have achieved much recognition in Europe. The superb acoustics of the Ian Roach Hall is the ideal venue for their only Melbourne concert during their Australian tour.

A popular concert of recent seasons has been the inclusion of a concert entitled Emerging Artists. This year we welcome the 2009 ABC Young Performer of the Year, violinist Ji Won Kim and pianist Hoang Pham. Both performers are already forging international solo careers, and I know that you will all enjoy their exploration of the Late Romantics.

The Ian Roach Hall is the perfect place to enjoy great music. Its acoustics are loved by all who perform in it. It is easily accessible, with convenient free parking and it has comfortable seats! I do hope you will enjoy our 2012 season, and I thank you for your support.
