See some of our Design & Technology students’ innovative works on display in the David Yu Family Foyer of the James Forbes Academy.
Fraser Smith Theatre (Lithgow Building), 9.00am – 4.00pm
Come along and watch some of our Media Studies students’ short films, playing throughout the day in the Fraser Smith Theatre. Media studies at Scotch provides boys with the opportunity to produce audio-visual media such as film and animation, print-based media such as magazines and photography, and interactive digital media including computer games and social media.
Lithgow Centre Atrium, 9.00am – 4.00pm
A visit to the Family Day Art Display is a must – see student artworks from all Art and Visual Communication Design classes, including VCE artworks. Our Artist-in-Residence Louis Howcroft will be demonstrating the making of his recycled fashion artworks. The kids can join in and make an artwork with him to take home!
Tolson Centre (2 Morrison St), 9.30am – 4.00pm
Stop by the Scotch College Museum and Archives to delve into the history of our beloved school! See the fascinating and informative museum display. Archivist Mr Paul Mishura will be on hand to answer your questions about Scotch’s history, and to help you with any queries about family members who have attended Scotch over the school’s 173 year history.

Conducted by the Old Scotch Athletics Club, and open to its members and any Old Scotch Collegian, this race has been held annually since 1975 with the exception of a washout in1992. Now named in memory of Ewen Macdonald, a Scotch and Old Scotch athlete, this race is a real test for competitors of all ages.
Designed to attract our very best athletes, the Scotch Quarter is a handicap event over 400 metres. It is a test of speed and endurance as the scratch marker attempts to chase down the pack. The action heats up in the final straight as boys battle both mental and physical fatigue for their chance for glory.
The Scotch Flyer is the feature event of Family Day. Introduced by Don Davenport in the 1990s, this race stops the school and finishes with a customary photo finish. It is a handicap event and allows boys of different age groups to compete against each other.
Parking is limited on Family Day, and the best parking availability is along Glenferrie Road. The Monash Drive gates will be closed to vehicles, however they will be open for pedestrian access.

Vehicle Access for Volunteers & Stall Holders on Family Day
Vehicle access for dropping off goods and supplies for parent Family Day organisers is permitted from 6.30am until 7.30am only
Auxiliaries Selling Food on Family Day
Auxiliaries selling food on Family Day must have a dedicated Food Handling Supervisor at the stall throughout the day. The Food Handling Supervisor must be present for the entire duration of your stall – this may be either the same person or may change throughout the day. To become a Food Handling Supervisor, please complete the Food Safety Training. Certificates should be emailed to events@scotch.vic.edu.au once the training has been completed. Thank you to all Food Handling Supervisors for completing the training as soon as possible.
All auxiliaries selling or supplying food must also complete the Food Safety Allergen Matrix by Monday 2 September. For further information, please email events@scotch.vic.edu.au
