The planning and development of Scotch’s new Outdoor Education program in Mallacoota has taken a significant step forward with the appointment of Perry Anthony as the School’s inaugural Farm Manager at Fairhaven.
With a unique background in carpentry and farming, along with six years supporting MLC’s Marshmead program, Perry will play a vital role in bringing the vision for Fairhaven to life.
‘It’s an honour to manage one of Victoria’s most picturesque farming properties, and a great opportunity to be at Fairhaven from the beginning of its new chapter,’ said Perry.
Perry believes future students will most enjoy having ‘nature and freedom at their doorstep’, as well as farming, fishing, sailing, and discovering Fairhaven’s history and environment.
Officially appointed in June, Perry has spent time learning about the property from Mark Hansen, the outgoing caretaker, whose family have owned and managed Fairhaven for more than 70 years. Mark, who has called Fairhaven home since birth, was all too happy to share stories and his knowledge of the property with Perry.
‘Mark is an absolute gentleman with a lot of passion for nature and animal welfare,’ says Perry. ‘He told me a lot about his life at Fairhaven, and his earliest memory of travelling to school with his sister by boat after they had done hours of chores to help their parents.’
Of all the advice Mark shared, Perry says the most valuable practical advice has been, ‘where it’s safe to drive without getting stuck, through years of getting stuck’.

Perry has lived in Mallacoota for the past seven years, where he built his family’s home. Prior to this, he spent ten years breeding Black Angus cattle in Omeo. He enjoys the natural environment of Mallacoota, is an avid fisherman, and is actively involved in the local community, including training his daughter’s football team.
Perry brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to support the development of the Fairhaven site and program. We are delighted to welcome Perry and his family to the Scotch Family.
